Only 20% of young children have access to a regulated child care space and, in many regions, child care fees are the second highest expense for young families. Many families scramble to cobble together a child care arrangement. Meanwhile, early childhood educators, who should be valued for the work they do and be properly paid, earn about half as much, on average, as other college-trained workers.

Everyone has a child care story—whether you’re a parent, grandparent or early childhood educator; or an economist, health care professional, social worker, or post-secondary faculty.
